Family Storytime
Drop in every Wednesday 1:15 PM. All ages. A half hour of stories with our librarians and community readers!
What is a community reader?
Being a community reader is an opportunity for families and occasionally a special guest to share their favourite story by reading at Family Story Time. On the day you are interested in reading, just tell the librarian before she gets her stories going and she will
introduce you as one of our community readers. Sharing the reading experience through a variety of readers teaches children that reading is an enjoyable experience for all and that there are many types of reading experiences from beginner to expert
readers.
Readers Theatre!
Drop in for children aged 8-12. First Wednesday of every month (early dismissal days) 3:00-4:00 PM beginning February 1 to April 4, 2012. Books! Drama! Action! Readers Theatre is a dramatic presentation of a written work in a script form. Readers read from a "script" and reading parts are divided among the readers. No memorization, costumes, blocking, or special lighting is needed. The focus is on reading the text with expressive voices and gestures. This makes comprehending the text meaningful and fun!
